Buffer Overrun In RPCSS Service Could Allow Code Execution (824146)
Originally posted: September 10, 2003
Impact of vulnerability: Three new vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could enable an attacker to run arbitrary code on a user’s system.
Maximum Severity Rating: Critical
Recommendation: System administrators should apply the security patch immediately
This patch supercedes patch MS03-26 which was for the MSBlaster worm. This means you only need to install MS03-39.
You can bet their is another worm or virus on the way that will take advantage of this new exploit.
Recommendations, to get ahead and avoid another problem like MSBlaster :
Get a Firewall (Hardware, software)
Patch your MS Windows systems and keep them patched
Install Anti-virus software and keep it up to date
Make sure if you have any remote clients or customers entering into your internal network they are patched as well.
Many a times it happens, we install any software and find that a spyware has hit our computer. We wish to undo the install anyhow, but find ourselves helpless. However this undo can be done by creating restore points in windows. Restore point records the system configuration before the software is being installed. System Restore point only restores the system configuration before that date. It does not delete any data stored after that date. The system restore can be turned on which automatically creates...

I didn’ t really believe that error could be in the way of zipping the template package but I gave my idea a try: I unzipped the template that I had uploaded successfully, then I deleted the zip- package and zipped back the template- files I had unpacked a minute ago with my IZarc zip software. Like, I'd hit the "Start" button and the "rolling donut" (the little icon that tells you the PC is working on something and you should wait a while) would pop up for 15 seconds, and then the start menu would open and I'd click something and the rolling donut would come up for another 15 seconds and then the window for the program I've just opened would come up and there's that rolling donut again and 30 seconds later the program window fills and I click...

Gosh provides an alternate way to run command- line Groovy scripts, as well as a simplified way to write Windows Services ( WinNT Services ) using Groovy. Gosh treats scripts the same, whether they are run from the command- line or as a service (including bindings). You can debug a service by running it from the command- line, and you can also run standard command- line Groovy scripts. There is very little difference between a Groovy script that is intended to be run as a Windows Service and any other Groovy script.
